In 2008 the National Old People’s Riding Club (NOPRC) designed a riding experience that, as far as we know, is not matched by any other National riding organization.

Our Rally is versatile, fun, and gratifying.

So, what is so special about NOPRC’s Rally?

We designed it so every horse owner can participate.

We offer National ribbons, and the chapters may offer local level ribbons.

Imagine, you show up to a horse show with no idea of how things work. And crazier yet, you didn’t practice. There is nothing to worry about, just show up and your OPRC friends will help you navigate the Rally.

You have been riding for a couple of years, but always just on the trail or in an arena. The thought of attending a show sounds crazy to you. There is nothing to worry about, the Rally is meant to be fun! Everyone in OPRC will hold your hand through the whole experience.

Your horse is not ridable, or at least you don’t feel comfortable riding your horse. There is nothing to worry about, if you can lead your horse with a lead line, then you can participate in our Rally. Our Rally lets you participate in the same course as the experienced riders, the only difference is that you will be leading your horse through a lower-level course.

Your horse and you are new to each other, and you have no idea what will happen if you take your horse to a show. Just the thought of it scares you to death. There is nothing to worry about, your OPRC friends will be there for you.

You’re an experienced rider and want to test your skills. We’ve got you! You can compete at the National level and compete against all OPRC members nationwide.  All you must do is tell your chapter you wish to compete at the National level.

OK, I get it, this sounds like any other horse show---but is it?

  • No one is ever eliminated.
  • Members may use local shows as their rally event and have their chapter submit those scores to National
  • Chapters may spread their Rally events over multiple days throughout the year. Dressage on month, Show Jumping the next month, etc.
  • Gaited horse owners may use the NWHA Dressage Tests or the WDAA Tests.
  • Riders may compete with multiple horses, however, only one score is submitted to National.
  • Riders may ride in any event more than once on the same horse, but only the first score is submitted (to be fair, no test runs).

We designed the Rally so that chapters can host a rally in their own region, based on consistent rules, guidelines, measurements, etc. We offer the following events:

  • Dressage: (Three levels: Intro, Training, and First Level)
  • Show Jumping: Gambler’s Choice, Five Classes: Trot Poles, Crossrails, 18”, 2’, and 2’6”
  • Barrel Racing (Timed Event)
  • Pole Bending (Timed Event)
  • Stable Management (a written knowledge test)
  • Working Equitation (W/E)/Trail: (Three levels: W/E Trail, W/E Advanced Trail, Trail In-Hand)

Come join OPRC and see how different we are.
